Dubai, UAE: As part of its efforts to continue promoting the World Chambers Congress, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC–UAE) Chapter received Peter Mihok, Chairman, World Chambers Federation in Dubai recently.
The courtesy meeting covering general topics and areas of partnership, contribution and support from ICC-UAE to WCF was attended by H.E. Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, Chairman, ICC-UAE Chapter, in the presence of Hassan Al Hashemi, Secretary General, ICC-UAE Chapter.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed on the importance of enhancing joint cooperation by strengthening the channels of communication between the ICC-UAE and the World Chambers Federation in their efforts to support the private sector to benefit from the services provided by the two organisations.
Lauding the role of International Chamber of Commerce in promoting and supporting the reach and scope of UAE businesses around the world, H.E. Ben Salem informed the visiting WCF Chairman about the ICC-UAE Programme of Action which he said is aimed at supporting UAE business growth while inviting local companies to take advantage of ICC-UAE services.
The Chairman of ICC-UAE renewed his call for UAE-based companies to join the ICC and to avail the opportunity of communicating with more than 12,000 Chambers of Commerce and Industry globally and to contribute to the economic growth process of the UAE by adopting international best practices.
He also stressed on the ICC-UAE’s role in enhancing the competitiveness of the UAE’s business community as the country has ranked 19th for entrepreneurial attitude, activity and aspiration in the Global Entrepreneurship and Development Index (GEDI) report while surpassing the business sector in both Norway, which ranked 20th and Korea at 27, which he said came as a result of the UAE Government’s policies pursuing innovation
and human capital, providing the youth with knowledge tools in the area of science, encouraging them to innovate, and to support all forms of entrepreneurship, especially SMEs which are the backbone of the UAE economy.
On his part, Peter Mihok praised the ICC-UAE efforts in engaging with the private sector while providing world-class services and products as he also stressed on the World Chambers Federation’s commitment to extend all cooperation and support for the enhancement of global trade.
Mihok also expressed his admiration of the achievements of the UAE business community as he said that the UAE has established itself as a sophisticated and attractive global business and investment destination thanks to the leading role played by the UAE Chambers of Commerce in supporting the private sector.
He further stressed on the ICC-UAE’s support in boosting essential two-way trade efforts while promoting the next 10th WCF Congress in Sydney, Australia, next year.
