HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has presented Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA ) with the Best m-Government Service Award in the environment category, to HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA . The award was announced on the third and final day of the Government Summit, which was held under the patronage of His Highness. Out of 411 submissions in the national, Arab, global, and university-student categories, 76 qualified for the final stage of the second Best m-Government Service Award. Participation focused on creativity and employing technology to serve the public.

It also enhances our efforts to achieve our vision to become a sustainable world class utility, and make our customers happier,” said Al Tayer.

Using DEWA ‘s electronic and smart services helped eliminate 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in 2014 as a result of DEWA ‘s customers conducting over 3.7 million transactions online and through the smart app. This amount is the equivalent to that of customers travelling to and from DEWA offices. This equates to planting 64,400 trees in an area equivalent to 121.5 football fields.
DEWA ‘s smart app provides over 150 services and features that meet the expectations and needs of all segments of society, such as customers, consultants, suppliers, job seekers, government organisations, and people with special needs, anytime, anywhere. DEWA ‘s smart app is compatible with various platforms including Android, iOS, and Blackberry. It is also accessible on various operating systems including Windows, Windows Phones, Samsung home entertainment systems, Etisalat’s eLife and through its web application on www.dewa.gov.ae
