3 graduates will benefit from a fully paid Master scholarship offered by the American University in the Emirates.
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has celebrated the graduation of 35 employees from two of its flagship leadership training programmes, Tamkeen and Qiyadat. Attending the awarding ceremony to distribute certificates to the graduates was Mr. Khamis Bu Haroon, ADIB Vice Chairman and Acting CEO and Professor Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the Emirates.
Since its launch in 2015, Tamkeen has been empowering ADIB’s diverse talent pool of Emirati women with the necessary tools to progress to senior leadership roles within the bank. This year, 14 candidates have successfully completed the programme, acquiring the necessary knowledge and skill sets to progress their careers and reach senior management levels.
Qiyadat, which had 14 graduates this year, is designed to give ADIB staff first-hand management experience, such as problem solving, relationship building, and motivating employees. 52 UAE Nationals have completed the programme since its launch in 2015
Addressing the graduates, Mr. Khamis Bu Haroon, ADIB Vice Chairman and Acting CEO said: “As one of the leading financial institutions in the UAE, ADIB has strived to create a wide range of human development programmes to guide and harness the immense local talent we possess within the bank. Providing the training to help Emiratis reach the highest leadership roles in the bank is a key aspect of our strategy. We have great confidence in all those who graduated from ADIB’s Tamkeen and Qiyadat leadership programmes. We look forward to seeing how they can implement their new skillsets to contribute to the bank’s growth and to support the nation’s economic ambitions. ADIB is proud to play a leading part in this important endeavour.”
On this occasion Professor Muthanna Abdulrazzaq congratulated the graduates asserting “your achievement today should not be the end but the beginning of your journey towards leadership excellence which is also at the core of our vision as a university. As you continue this journey remember AUE’s motto that ‘Nothing is Impossible’ and as a university we are here to support your dreams”. Professor Muthanna Abdulrazzaq continued his message by noting the many colleges and programs at AUE many of which are unique in the region with the latest being the College of Security and Global Studies and the Equine College where he encouraged the graduates by offering scholarships to the top performers to pursue graduate studies.
UAE nationals make up over 40 percent of ADIB’s employees contributing to the bank’s strong performance-based culture. The bank has also adopted the new points-based system approved by the UAE government to promote the entry of UAE nationals into the financial sector and promote career development.
Over the last 12 months, ADIB has received numerous awards for its Emiratisation efforts, including the award for Best Nationalisation Initiative and Excellence in Talent Management from the MENA HR Awards, and the Human Resource Development Award from the Emirates Institute of Banking and Financial Studies.
